The UK government barred Ye, the hip-hop artist formerly known as Kanye West, from entering the country over his history of antisemitism, leading to the cancellation of a music festival where he was due to appear as a headline act.

Ye had been due to perform at the Wireless festival in London in July, but the decision to book him provoked criticism over his past statements and actions, which included the release of a song called Heil Hitler. Over the weekend, Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the booking “deeply concerning” and on Tuesday he said on X that the government “will not stop in our fight to confront and defeat the poison of antisemitism.”
