Mexico Budget Plan Sees Smaller Fiscal Gap, More Growth in 2027
Mexico’s government forecasts a narrower budget deficit next year, even as President Claudia Sheinbaum pushes for increased public spending and new private investment to counter an economic slowdown.
Sheinbaum’s officials are targeting a budget gap of 3.5% of gross domestic product for 2027, in line with September’s estimate, and below this year’s expected 4.3% deficit, according to the preliminary budget proposal from the finance ministry published on Wednesday.
