Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre called for Canada’s fuel taxes to be suspended for the rest of the year, saying the government must do more to alleviate the rising cost of gasoline and diesel.

Poilievre said that if the fuel excise tax, the goods and services tax, and the clean fuel standard were all removed, the price of gasoline would fall by 25 Canadian cents per liter. That would bring it more in line with US prices.
