Ethiopia Keeps Key Rate Flat Citing Need to Contain Inflation

Ethiopia’s central bank retained its benchmark interest rate at 15%, saying a tight monetary policy stance remains necessary to keep inflation below 10%.

Policymakers have kept the rate unchanged since the introduction of the measure nearly two years ago as part of a broader set of macro-economic reforms under a International Monetary Fund-backed financing program.
