The Greens have already lured away much of Labour’s support in public opinion polls. Now, they’re looking to court a sector that has long been the key source of money and manpower for the British governing party: trade unions.

Green leader Zack Polanski kicked off a series of speeches to workers’ groups on Monday with an address to the National Education Union conference in the southern English coastal town of Brighton. The Greens’ effort shows how they could threaten Labour’s finances and traditional organization structure, as well as its voter base, as the left looks for a way to counter the rise of Nigel Farage’s rightwing populist Reform UK.
