The family of billionaire Tilman Fertitta will purchase the Connecticut Sun, a Women’s National Basketball Association team, from the Mohegan Tribe.

The team is expected to relocate the franchise to Houston for the start of the 2027 season, according to a press release announcing the sale on Monday. Fertitta, who also already owns the National Basketball Association’s Houston Rockets, will pay $300 million for the franchise, according to a person familiar with the matter. The deal requires approval from WNBA officials.
