The Italian government’s aid to businesses and families aimed at protecting them from higher prices caused by the US war in Iran won’t damage the country’s fiscal position, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said.

The government is reflecting on “who to help and incentivize but always keeping in mind our fiscal limits,” Giorgetti said by video at a panel on Saturday at the Ambrosetti workshop in Cernobbio, Italy. “We are facing this type of crisis from a position of relative solidity,” he added, and “public finances at this time are able to absorb this shock.”
