Merz Signals Germany to Take Stake in Franco-German Tank Maker

Chancellor Friedrich Merz hinted that the German government would purchase a stake in Franco-German tank manufacturer KNDS NV as part of an effort to secure influence in the defense venture.

“We have just given an order to acquire a significant stake from a family in a defense technology company, in which France already holds a 50% stake,” Merz said on a panel in Frankfurt on Friday.
