Britons Shun Major Purchases to Absorb War Fallout, GfK Says
Britons are saving more and cutting back on big-ticket items in an effort to ride out the economic fallout from the Iran conflict, according to a closely watched survey.
GfK said Friday its gauge of major purchase plans plunged four points to minus 18 in March, the lowest since April last year when sentiment was hit by the start of the US trade war and a wave of household-bill increases.
