Meituan Expects Losses to Narrow as China Curbs Delivery Fight
Meituan expects losses per delivery order to start narrowing in the current quarter, as Chinese officials rein in its intense competition with Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. and JD.com Inc.
Billionaire founder Wang Xing projected the improvement in the bottom line after his company reported its second straight quarterly loss and a mere 4.1% rise in revenue, matching expectations. Meituan swung into the red for the first time in almost three years in the September quarter, hurt by a price-based competition with its two main rivals in food delivery.
