Sony Announces New TV and Soundbars as TCL Deal Looms

Sony Group Corp. introduced a new midrange 4K TV and several home theater audio products, going about business as usual even as it nears a deal to sell a majority stake in its home entertainment business to China’s TCL Electronics Holdings Ltd.

The two competitors have yet to enter into a definitive agreement, so for now Sony is moving forward with its planned hardware announcements. But consumers may have reason to be cautious, as it is not clear how TCL will approach software updates and long-term support for legacy Sony models.
