Italian Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè has stepped down nearly a day after Premier Giorgia Meloni demanded her resignation in a bid to clean house in the wake of a bruising referendum defeat.

On Tuesday night, Meloni had taken the unusual step of publicly demanding the resignation of Santanchè, who’s been under investigation over allegations of fraud. She denies any wrongdoing.
