The European Union will locate its new customs agency in Lille, France, a key step in the bloc’s push to harmonize the bloc’s rules and tackle an influx of cheap packages from China.

Member states and the European Parliament made the selection on Wednesday, opting for the northern French city over European capitals such as Warsaw and Rome, according to a spokesperson for the EU’s rotating presidency, which Cyprus currently holds.
