The Trump administration missed a deadline to name a new director for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, leaving it without a leader and adding to a year of turmoil at the country’s foremost public health agency.

The White House didn’t nominate a director on Wednesday, missing the 210-day window to submit a name to the Senate since the CDC last had a permanent director.
