Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen kept alive the prospect of a third term after her party secured victory in a closely-fought election.

The premier’s Social Democrats defended their place as the country’s biggest party with 21.9% of the parliamentary vote on Tuesday. But it’s still the party’s worst result in more than a century.
