Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis appears set to win an internal election as head of South Africa’s second-biggest political party next month, with a little-known municipal councilor his only challenger for the post.

Hill-Lewis and Sibusiso Dyonase, who heads the Democratic Alliance’s caucus in the central Sedibeng municipality, were nominated to replace John Steenhuisen as leader, with the vote to be held at an April 11-12 conference in Johannesburg, the party said in a statement on Tuesday.
