HPE Faces Key Court Challenge Over $14 Billion Juniper Deal

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Inc.’s settlement with the Justice Department over its $14 billion takeover of wireless networking rival Juniper Networks Inc. was scrutinized by a federal judge Monday after a group of states challenged the deal as inadequate and tainted.

HPE reached a deal with the US Justice Department in June — on the eve of a trial — on federal claims that the transaction would harm competition in the market for enterprise wireless equipment used by large companies, universities and hospitals. But the states allege the DOJ only agreed to the terms under pressure from administration officials and a group of well-connected lawyers and consultants.
