What’s Love Got to Do With It? Pophouse Buys Stake in Tina Turner’s Recordings
Swedish music investment firm Pophouse Entertainment Group AB is adding another star to its roster by acquiring a majority stake in the publishing rights and recordings of Tina Turner, the rock n’ roll icon whose long list of karaoke-friendly superhits includes “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” “Private Dancer” and “We Don’t Need Another Hero.”
Pophouse, which is helmed by ABBA star Bjorn Ulvaeus and EQT AB co-founder Conni Jonsson, said in a statement that it had acquired the recordings and rights — as well as those pertaining to her name, image, and likeness — for an undisclosed amount. The seller, BMG Rights Management GmbH, will remain a minority owner.
