Japan’s finance minister said authorities are fully prepared to take action against currency moves if needed at any time, as traders test the dollar’s upside against the yen ahead of a Bank of Japan policy decision later in the day.

“We’re maintaining a very high sense of urgency,” Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama said Thursday in a post-cabinet meeting press conference. “We are prepared to respond fully at any time, having the impact of currencies on people’s lives in mind,” she said.
