Starmer Rivals Make Play for Labour’s Disaffected Base in UK

The UK’s political left is beginning to articulate an alternative to Starmerism as the governing Labour Party wrestles with its direction ahead of expected widespread losses in May’s local elections.

Late Tuesday, Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s former deputy, Angela Rayner, criticized her party’s planned immigration reforms and warned that the government was “running out of time” to deliver change. On Wednesday morning, Green Party leader Zack Polanski laid out his economic blueprint for Britain, arguing for more borrowing and higher taxes in order to cushion Britons from rising prices.
