Mauritius is controlling spending to offset the fiscal impact of the UK announcing it won’t implement a treaty handing the Chagos Islands to Mauritius without the support of the US.

The Indian Ocean island nation included 10 billion rupees ($214.5 million) in revenue for its budget through June 2026 on the basis of the deal, which was subsequently thrown into doubt after US President Donald Trump voiced his opposition.
