NYC Subway Ridership Jumps 7.7% Due to Congestion Pricing Toll

New York City’s controversial congestion pricing toll is helping to boost subway ridership, according to a committee that represents transit riders.

The new fee, which imposes a $9 toll for most motorists in parts of Manhattan, has prompted more drivers to take the subways for both work and discretionary travel, said Brian Fritsch, associate director at the Permanent Citizens Advisory Committee.
