Coordinated Suicide Attack in Nigeria Leaves 23 People Dead

Photographer: Jossy Ola/AP PhotoSuicide bombers staged deadly attacks on three crowded locations in the northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri, the first coordinated operation of its kind there in almost a decade.
The assailants targeted a market, a hospital and a post office on Monday, killing at least 23 people, according to the police. The army said the bombings were carried out by suspected members of the Islamist extremist group Boko Haram, which has been waging an insurgency in the area since around 2009.
