American Air Considers Liquidity Options, Prepares New Jet Order

American Airlines Group Inc. said it would consider tapping the debt market for extra liquidity as soon as next quarter if increased fuel prices persist, and the company has assets like its fleet and loyalty program it could monetize to strengthen its balance sheet.

The carrier has some planned financing rounds in the third quarter that “we can advance and bring in a little bit earlier here in the second quarter” for what he called “incremental” financial requirements, Chief Financial Officer Devon May said in an interview in Washington on Tuesday.
