Spanish Conservatives Win Third Regional Poll in Three Months

Spain’s conservative People’s Party won its third regional election in as many months, while Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s Socialist party posted a strong showing.

The People’s Party, or PP, won 33 seats in Castile and León’s 82-strong legislature on Sunday, up from 31 in 2022, according to local government data with 96% of votes counted. The Socialists took 30 seats, up from 28 four years ago, while third place went to the nationalists of Vox with 14, an increase of one seat.
