Kazakhstan Constitution Vote Sees 73% Turnout as Counting Starts
Strong turnout was reported on Sunday for Kazakhstan’s vote on a new constitution, as President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev remakes the political system in Central Asia’s largest energy exporter before his term ends in 2029.
Polls in the referendum closed at 8 p.m. local time, with turnout estimated at 73.24%, by the Central Election Commission, which is now counting the results.
