One Battle After Another took home the best picture prize at the Academy Awards on Sunday, delivering a long-awaited win for veteran filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.

The Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. film, about a washed-up revolutionary seeking to rescue his daughter from his former nemesis, was the favorite among Oscars forecasters and bookmakers going into Sunday’s awards, and it walked away with six wins. Its main competition was from Sinners, which had a record 16 nominations and scooped up four statuettes of its own. Both frontrunners were from the film division of Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. and along with one win for Weapons, the studio swept up a total of 11 Oscars, a notable achievement as the company is in the midst of a contentious acquisition by Paramount Skydance Corp.
