The memecoin bearing Donald Trump’s name surged as much as 60% in the last 24 hours after its promoters advertised an exclusive gala at Mar-a-Lago featuring the president — though the White House hasn’t confirmed his attendance.

The rally in Trump coin, which has lost more than 90% of its value since peaking around $44 shortly after its January 2025 launch, underscores the token’s dependence on a recurring playbook: offer proximity to the president, attract speculative buying, and hope the price holds. Last year’s dinner for top holders with the president briefly lifted the token before it resumed its decline. The memecoin pared its gains on Friday.
