My $812 Night Out Started and Ended in a Movie Theater
Inside the Metro, where oysters, Negronis and heated recliners turn filmgoing into an exclusive dinner party, for better and worse

“It takes courage to eat a raw oyster in a movie theater,” I thought as I tipped one back. It was slippery and salty, with a daring glob of fuchsia hibiscus gelée — an item on the cinema’s love-story-themed Valentine’s Day menu inspired by Sleepless in Seattle. (It’s a deep cut, but Tom Hanks and Rob Reiner eat shellfish at a lunch counter in the film.)
There was also a blue velouté soup shooter (from Bridget Jones’s Diary), which was more whimsical than flavorful, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding spanakopita cones. For mains, out came When Harry Met Sally pastrami short rib and Mamma Mia! branzino.
