Ex-Renk CEO Slams German Defense Spending as Shares Soar

Germany’s massive spending on weapons is boosting share prices of arms makers but not doing enough to equip its armed forces, the former chief executive officer of a key defense company said.

“What we see at the moment is inflation — we don’t get as much out of the system in hardware as we put in money,” said Susanne Wiegand, who stepped down as CEO of Renk Group AG in early 2025. “We have not changed our system of procurement, and the system is not even able to sensibly digest that money.”
