China Strengthens Yuan Fixing for a Record 15th Straight Week
China has raised the yuan fixing for a 15th straight week, the longest weekly gaining streak on record, showing continued support for the currency to appreciate despite volatility from the Iran war.
The People’s Bank of China strengthened the yuan fixing by 0.03% this week, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The unprecedented streak made the yuan a gainer against the dollar, even as the greenback surged. The record comes as top officials from the US and China prepare to meet in Paris this weekend to map out a summit between US President Donald Trump and China’s Xi Jinping.
