US Imposes Sanctions Over North Korean Fraud Targeting US Firms

The Trump administration imposed new sanctions on six individuals and two entities involved in using North Korean overseas information technology workers to defraud US businesses and funnel hundreds of millions of dollars to Pyongyang’s weapons development.

The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control said Thursday it imposed penalties on North Korean affiliates that worked to conceal worker identities to get them IT jobs in the US and other countries.
