Nathalie Prevost is fed up. She makes her living selling paella at Marseille’s Michelet market, but authorities’ failure to stamp out petty crime has left her so frustrated she didn’t bother to file a police report after her cash box was recently stolen.

She did take a moment to shake the hand of candidate Franck Allisio, who is campaigning on a law-and-order agenda to unseat the Socialist mayor. She’s inclined to vote for him and the once-taboo far-right party of Marine Le Pen in municipal elections on March 15 and 22.
