US regulators plan to propose a raft of new capital requirements that aim to encourage some Wall Street banks and their midsize rivals to boost lending.

Officials at the Federal Reserve, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency are poised to unveil the proposals as soon as next week, according to people familiar with the matter. The package is set to include three key measures tied to capital, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing confidential efforts.
