Macquarie Touts Australian Pension Heft at Washington Meeting

Macquarie Group Ltd. Chief Executive Officer Shemara Wikramanayake told a gathering in Washington that Australia’s pension funds will soon be larger than the UK or Canada, with those portfolios on the hunt for assets to buy around the world.

Some of the biggest names in Australia’s A$4.5 trillion ($3.2 trillion) pension industry are in the US this week, meeting Wall Street heavyweights and members of the Trump administration as they deepen their push into overseas markets. The second annual Australian Superannuation Investment Summit — organized by the federal government and Macquarie — includes stops in San Francisco, Washington and New York.
