UK Water Utilities Get Limited Revenue Boost From Watchdog

UK water companies got the nod to raise customer bills further, though the increase will be modest after the Competition and Markets Authority largely backed limits set by the industry regulator.

The CMA decided to allow an additional £463 million ($623 million) in revenue for five utilities from 2025 to 2030 — just 17% of what they had requested — it said in a statement Tuesday. That equates to an average 2.2% increase in customer bills, which is in addition to a much larger hike already approved, but less than envisaged in a provisional rulingBloomberg Terminal in October.
