Portugal is one of the few major European football leagues where media rights are still negotiated on a club-by-club basis.

Liga Portugal has appointed Oakvale Capital to advise on a potential stake sale in the unit managing the company’s broadcasting and commercial rights in the country’s top two football divisions, according to a person familiar with the matter.

A stake sale would help raise club revenue as Portugal’s football governing body plans to bundle those rights for the first time by 2028. An investor day is scheduled for late April to present the project to prospective backers, according to the person, who asked not to be identified because the information is private. The person declined to comment on the size of the stake or a possible valuation.
