Italy Risks Iran Setback in Bid to Exit EU Scrutiny, Scope Says
Italy’s push to shake off fiscal scrutiny by the European Union is in danger of being jolted by an extended Middle East crisis, Scope Ratings said.
The credit assessor, in a report on Monday, said that the country’s bid to leave the so-called Excessive Deficit Procedure in coming months could still succeed — but that even then, a big hit to economic growth could complicate things for 2026.
