What We Know About Iran’s Nuclear Program

For decades, Iran’s nuclear ambitions have been a source of concern for the US and its allies. The fear is that Tehran could eventually build an atomic weapon, an eventuality that Israel views as an existential threat.

To do so, Tehran would first need to amass a quantity of bomb-grade uranium. After Israeli and US forces attacked key Iranian nuclear facilities in June 2025, US President Donald Trump said they had been “completely and totally obliterated.” However, this was disputed by international nuclear weapons inspectors, and the status of Iran’s uranium has been unclear ever since.
