Chinese President Xi Jinping warned the military against shielding corrupt or disloyal officials, while urging the continuation of a crackdown that has become the country’s biggest military purge in roughly half a century.

“There must be no room in the military for those who harbor disloyalty toward the party, nor any place for corrupt officials to hide,” Xi said to delegates from the People’s Liberation Army and People’s Armed Police Force during the annual national parliamentary session on Saturday.
