Turkey Considers Deployment of F-16 Warplanes to Northern Cyprus

Turkey’s military is considering the deployment of F-16 warplanes in northern Cyprus to bolster the defenses of the self-declared Turkish Cypriot state, people familiar with the matter said, amid a growing military buildup on the island as a result of the Iran war.

The Turkish jets are expected to deployed in the next few days, said the people, who spoke Saturday on condition of anonymity. The move is part of phased plans to bolster the security of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, according to the people.
