Top Manganese Firms Mull Bid for New South Africa Export Hub

Top producers of manganese ore in South Africa — the world’s largest supplier of the steelmaking ingredient — are planning a bid to run a new export terminal at the southeastern port of Ngqura.

The Manganese Producers’ Consortium intends to enter a contest in the coming months to design, build and operate the terminal, African Rainbow Minerals Ltd., which jointly owns one of the members, said in a statement Friday.
