Nepal’s Pro-Gen Z Party Leads Vote by Wide Margin in Election

The party led by a 35-year-old rapper-turned-politician is leading in national elections in Nepal, putting it on track to break the traditional political establishment’s grip on the Himalayan nation.

The Rastriya Swatantra Party, the three-year-old political group led by former Kathmandu mayor Balendra Shah, is leading in 103 of the 165 seats up for a direct vote in Thursday’s election, The Kathmandu Post newspaper reported Friday. Its main competitor, the Nepali Congress, trailed with a lead in just 12 seats.
