Stocks suffered their worst weekly selloff since October, marked by a spike in volatility as the escalating war in the Middle East set off fears about surging oil prices and inflation, while a surprise decline in US employment stoked concerns about growth.

The S&P 500 Index ended the week 2% lower after posting its worst single-day drop in nearly a month on Friday, when it fell 1.3%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 Index fell 1.5%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 1%.
