Netflix Inc., after losing the takeover battle for Warner Bros. Discovery Inc., should consider partnering with Sony Group Corp. to strengthen its intellectual property strategy as streaming competition intensifies, money manager Mario Gabelli said in a Bloomberg TV interview.

The founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Gamco Investors Inc. said Netflix’s global distribution reach could be amplified by tapping Sony’s expanding anime portfolio. “Somebody always wins, somebody always backs out,” he said, adding that Netflix should be “knocking on Sony’s door.”
