The Senate on Monday voted 84-6 to clear a procedural hurdle for a housing package with a new provision barring investors that own more than 350 houses from purchasing additional single-family homes – an idea Trump touted in his State of the Union address last month in an attempt to assuage voters’ affordability concerns ahead of midterm elections.
