Taiwan Hunting for Alternative LNG Supplies After Qatar Shutdown
Taiwan is hunting for alternative sources of liquefied natural gas after the shutdown of a Qatar export plant jeopardized around a third of its supply of the vital electricity feedstock.
The island has enough LNG to last through the end of March after emergency coordination and adjustments, and had adequate safety stockpiles, Premier Cho Jung-tai told lawmakers on Tuesday. The economy ministry and oil and gas importer CPC Corp. have activated emergency response mechanisms and will secure supplies through diversified markets to ensure a stable supply of power, he said.
