Marisa Abela as Yasmin Kara-Hanani in Episode 8 of Industry.
Photographer: Simon Ridgway/HBOWhen did Ghislaine Maxwell realize she was Ghislaine Maxwell? Read her name today, and it’s shorthand for moral depravity. But that wasn’t always the case. As Episode 8 of Industry ends, Yasmin Kara-Hanani (Marisa Abela) listens over and over again to a voicemail message from her late father—a character clearly inspired by Robert Maxwell—who’s inviting his daughter to join him on his yacht, a boat he’s named after her and where he dies after falling off it drunk. (Robert Maxwell’s own yacht was called the Lady Ghislaine, and he died after going overboard under mysterious circumstances.)
