Brazil’s Origem Turns to Underground Gas Storage to Bolster Grid

Origem Energia SA plans to store natural gas underground in Brazil in a price hedging strategy to shore up the nation’s renewable-reliant grid and attract power-hungry data centers.

The natural gas producer will invest up to $150 million in a project to store supplies in depleted reservoirs in Alagoas state, Chief Executive Officer Luiz Felipe Coutinho said in an interview with Bloomberg.
