Russia’s recruitment of Africans to fight in its war on Ukraine is increasingly drawing the ire of governments on the continent.

South Africa said on Thursday that two of its citizens were killed in the conflict, while Botswana said it is seeking to establish what happened to three of its nationals who were drafted. Kenya has charged a man with trafficking men to Russia to fight, and Ghana and Nigeria have raised concerns about the fate of conscripts.
